MPG 2.3b3 ReadMe** ================ What does MPG do? ---------------- MPG is a log book for your car. It lets you keeps track of fuel, oil changes, tune-ups, inspections, tire rotations, windshield wipers, car washes trips, and other miscellaneous expenses for your car. It gives status such as average miles per gallons, total cost of gas, and average price of gas. Fuel economy is calculated for the fuel entries. Time, distance and time per distance are calculated for trips. Trip reports can be generate for tax purposes. Alarms and reminders can be setup for recurring services such as oil changes or change the tire pressures. *** This is a temporary update for MPG. Version 3.0 of MPG will be rewritten to take advantage of some Newton OS 2.0 features and to add things such as reports. The documentation has not been changed since MPG 2.2. MPG 2.3b3 does allow printing of Trip Reports thru the Print option. Set the format to Trip Log. **The MPG gas can icon next to the trip purpose is so that you can recall previous trips and have the ending trip information entered. To use the new trip feature: Enter the odometer, select the purpose of the trip, tap the gas can icon. MPG will search for the last trip with the current purpose and fill in the locations, distances, and times based on the last trip of this specific purpose. I use this for Post Office and Bank trips. I have a purpose setup called "PO&Bank", every other day I go to the post office so I enter my car's current odometer, select purpose "PO&Bank", tap the gas can icon and MPG fills in start location "Home", ending odometer = 19 miles plus starting odometer, time = 35 minutes plus starting time, end location "Home". * NCK.pkg is a separate package. Users that wish to export MPG data to the desktop computer need to install this package, and synchronize with Newton Connection Kit. Installation of MPG ------------------- You probably will need the Newton Connection Kit. Follow the directions for installing packages in the documentation of the Connection Kit. MPG requires 114k of free ram to install.
