AvailWorks Version 3.0.1 Release Notes -- June 4, 1997 ============================= Thank you for purchasing AvailWorks 3.0. The disk should include the following files: Macintosh Filename Windows Filename Function AvailWks.pkg AVAILWKS.PKG Application ClipArt.pkg CLIPART.PKG Clip Art ClipArtS.pkg CLIPARTS.PKG Sample Clip art FuncRef.txt FUNCREF.TXT Function Reference Notes about Memory Use ===================== Creating complex documents with objects and text requires significant free "heap" memory. This can be particularly troublesome on Apple MessagePad 120 units, which have only 50% of the heap memory of MessagePad 130 units. For optimum performance, we suggest using a freezing utility to freeze all other packages while AvailWorks is in use. Backdrop and heap "clean-up" packages may also be helpful. Finally, resetting the Newton device between tasks is always a good idea when memory is low. Changes in 3.0.1 ================ 1. Fixed the Divide-By-Zero error in the spreadsheet. Now gives a formula error notice. 2. Fixed the Tab usage in the Label Editor. Previously, inserting a tab character would move the cursor down to the input line. Now it correctly inserts a tab at the cursor. 3. Redesigned the label editor to allow for more viewable text area and a more streamlined interface. 4. Added the alternate method for selecting "Edit Selected Object...". Simply tap the comment or "prompt" text above the toolbar. 5. Fixed the sizing of several items. This improves the behavior on MP2000 devices and landscape mode use. (Primary change is in the table editor). 6. Fixed the behavior of spreadsheet formulas for international users. The comma character, used as a decimal separator, should now translate correctly. Known problems ============== 1. On some printers text from the text layer may wrap earlier than on the AvailWorks page. If this is the case but wider margins are needed, the Label tool can also be used to lay out text. 2. The last page of text cannot be deleted. If you delete all pages, any text that was on the last page deleted will appear on the new, blank page. However, subsequent new pages will not have this problem, so the first page can be ignored.
